Why so many dark marketplaces still look cheap
Most dark UIs fail because they remove light, not because they add restraint, type, or atmosphere.
Dark UI is not a shortcut to premium design. Most marketplaces flatten everything into charcoal panels, muted copy, and interchangeable product cards. The result is less luxury than low-contrast fog.
The better pattern is colder, cleaner, and more intentional: disciplined typography, obvious hierarchy, a limited accent system, and enough spatial tension to make products feel chosen instead of dumped into a feed.
Theme Tundra exists to lean into that colder editorial direction. The aim is not just dark mode. It is visual restraint with a point of view.
